Arts festival championing creativity with colourful images immediately conveying an eruption of colour and warmth in the cool of winter
The Hutt Winter Festival was an arts festival championing the creativity of local Hutt-based artists and groups. The programme features music, theatre, dance, pop-up projects, public art, outdoor events, literature, visual arts, workshops and more – an eruption of colourful art activity to brighten up all corners of Lower Hutt.
The branding we designed is bold and eye-catching, instantly expressing creativity through it’s diverse iterations. Embracing variations also reflects the idea of community participation and being warm and friendly and feels inclusive and open minded. The graphic HWF feels simple and youthful, the rounded nature makes it very accessible and filling in the letter forms creates a unique stencil mark that captures the notion of this outdoor street festival.
The logo suite included a range of landscape, portrait and 3D logos as well as cool and warm gradients. Community groups can also personalise their own versions while the consistent shape ensures brand recognition.
We used duo tones images in both warm and cool colour ways, using a logo in the opposite colour way over the top. These colourful and striking images immediately conveyed an eruption of colour and warmth in the cool of winter. This combination of logos and duo toned photography helped us bring the brand to life across all the event collateral, offering the public a real sense of the creative experience on offer.
This project included branding, brand guidelines, programmes, posters, postcards, banners, tear drop flags, advertising, billboards, badges, bunting flags and website.
“Hutt City Council contracted Dustysandlulu to develop and design a new Hutt Winter Festival brand, website and supporting print collateral. They were amazing! Their design explorations and solutions were wonderful, our people were very impressed. They worked beyond their brief in a very helpful way, taking a leadership role in coaxing along the rest of the crew, web designer, printers and other to keep everyone on track. They were always constructive and cheerful, remaining calm and focussed when things were confused or they had to deal with multiple voices. I really appreciated their patience and professionalism and would warmly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a talented, patient, high quality design team.”
