Refreshing the brand to better reflect bringing different parties together to facilitate successful resolutions and using infographics to express confidence and showcase success.
FSCL are a not-for-profit external dispute resolution scheme who resolves complaints against financial service providers. We began working with FSCL in 2015, initially designing their Annual Reports each year which required showcasing the company in a fresh and creative ways while staying true to the brand.
The 2018/2019 Annual Report continues to tell the FSCL story in a way that engages the audience and ties the content together. The theme was ‘Change is coming, let’s make sense of it’. We wanted to make a feature of icons, which had been very well received the previous years report. We added yellow to the brand colours to add a bold statement that supports change is coming. It pops out against the blues and teals while still complimenting it. Plus it’s a positive colour, which is always reassuring in change. The design brings together large, strong, confident text with large, modern icons which feel contemporary, forward thinking, express confidence and help showcase the successes of the year.
After completing the annual report FSCL decided they needed to refresh their brand to be more aligned with the annual report and ultimately more contemporary. They had no current guidelines with many staff producing very different looking documents. They wanted to keep their exisiting logo but refresh the supporting look and feel. We explored design ideas around how to freshen up and modernise the brand. We added a couple of supporting colours to the brand palette, which add transition colours between the exisiting colours and adds more energy, insight and confidence to the brand. We designed some strong supporting graphics of segments of circles, done in line form. These segments intersect to show the concept of FSCL bringing the different parties together to facilitate a successful resolution. The circles feel like connections and solutions. We’ve also introduced a strong use of simple, strong icons to visually support the content.
We applied this new look and feel to all brand stationery as well as all internally and externally produced documents, powerpoint design, flyers, programmes, registration forms and lanyards for their conferences. We created a very comprehensive set of guidelines and templates for the client to easily produce consistent collateral.
