Every two years, Capital E runs The Capital E National Arts festival. Over 17,000 young people and their accompanying grown ups enjoy top quality performing arts from around the world, with a total of over 40,000 attendances. The age range for the Festival is 2-14 years.
The look and feel for this years event needed to be friendly, approachable, fun and feel like anything is possible! Our designs were unexpected and memorable, showcasing the festival in a creative and fun way. We created the festival theme of Bringing creativity to life, through 3D typography. The 3D approach helped show the depth and diversity of the productions, showcasing the different scales of the productions, from intimate to epic. We used vibrant colours to help the text pop and added fun photos of children interacting with the letters, jumping off, sitting on, peaking out from. We then included hand drawn line drawings to add creativity, like the girl jumping had snorkel, mask, flippers and swim ring. Each illustration related to an experience or performance on offer as well as tied into Capital E’s other marketing material.
We used these brand elements across all collateral. Each show for example in the programmes used photography, 3D illustrated objects and hand line drawings to creativity convey the performance.
As the festival also featured outdoor performances, it gave us the opportunity for creative, eye catching signage to not only clearly identify each location, but also promote the festival to the public walking past. Signage played on the pop up nature of the outdoor events, taking the 3D typography approach and bring it to life through 3D festival letters.
