Match Wine Bar WOAP
Client: Wines from Martinborough
Project: Branding, posters, postcards, banners, menus, bar taps, website, online requirements and advertising
Match Wine Bar was a pop up of premium Martinborough, Gladstone and Masterton wines, creatively matched to Ruth Pretty’s stylish food that was part of Wellington on a Plate. Match Wine Bar has attitude, just like the wines. The branding needed to reflect this attitude along with the pleasures and culinary opportunities of wine and food matches.
Our concept leveraged this idea of matching, bringing two things together in a clever and memorable way that is contemporary and really appeals to our target audience. The logo brings together two fonts, one representing wine, the other food. It instantly conveys the idea of matching, two different things coming together to create one readable word. It’s stylish and contemporary.
We wanted to create a look and feel that was unexpected and memorable. A way that feels like art and showcases the theme of matching. We wanted the look and feel to consist of two halves, one half representing food, the other wine, and the bringing together of these halves in a fun yet sophisticated way. We designed a series of gorgeous colour combinations as the backgrounds, selecting colours that not only represent the wine and food, but also compliment them, creating contemporary, luscious combinations. Then the actual images show a combination of a wine glass and various food items.
These fun combinations become memorable and gave us an opportunity to express the different matches and appeal to different peoples taste buds. These posters looked striking and eye catching around Wellington.
