Gladstone Vineyard is a family business with an international reputation for distinctive, high quality wines of finesse and complexity. Their focus is to make premium wine, harnessing the unique soil characteristics of the free draining old river terraces and adopting biological principles and sustainable practices to maintain soil and vine health.
Christine and Gail approached us to help them showcase their brand story as they prepared for an international sales trip. They needed a brochure that was contemporary, clean and fresh. We recommended a real photographic experience, partnered with minimal copy and engaging quotes. The cover has a very simple postcard feel with a beautiful white border, using a striking photo of the vineyard on a blue sky day, appealing to the overseas perception of New Zealand.
As you open up the brochure we love how the story goes from the place, the soil, through to the wine growing, making and finishing with Christine’s background. We created clusters of photos, adding visual interest and a boutique feel by having varying sizes, some bleeding of the page, others with white space. We selected photos that told the story of place, picking, making and drinking.
Adding typography in Eames Century Modern, a modern serif font, that has a wonderful family. The italic styles take on a life of their own with emphasized serifs, graceful curves and dramatic negative shapes, a perfect font for Gladstone Vineyard, with a premium, top end feel.
