Cloud 12 is a collection of New Zealand stays and activities that take you from Cloud 9 to Cloud 12. A a mix of luxury and boutique experiences, handpicked by Angela Scott, Tourism Marketing Specialist, who has over 15 years experience in the travel trade industry. When you pick a Cloud 12 experience you’ll receive a guaranteed level of quality and service. Whether it’s staying in a luxury lodge, boutique bed & breakfast, to soaking in a thermal hot pool or enjoying a whole fresh crayfish. Cloud 12 is about embracing experiences that feel good.
Project: Branding and design
We designed a logo that has a premium and boutique feel. We used a combination of a classic, trusted serif font in the 12 to convey high quality and premium. Then mixed that with a modern clean sans serif font for the name. We wanted the 12 to appear like a quality emblem, but also give the appearance of floating, to convey that feeling of being on cloud 12. Parts of the numbers disappear behind the clouds, and are placed on different levels to add to the feeling of floating and exciting the senses.
We created a stunning, stylish and clean look that captures the premium boutique feeling perfectly. We wanted the site to feel light, with plenty of white space to feel like clouds. We believe imagery is key and this uncluttered look helps the photos shine.
We’ve placed the photos in black and white on the home page. This helps unify the range of different photos. Then provides a beautiful way to allow the colour photos to stand out as the user hovers over an image because it changes to colour and the name of the lodge appears. This has huge impact and allows that particular property to stand out. Perfect use of black and white contrasting with colour.
The nav is clean and clear. Contact details will appear centered at the bottom or each page. Facebook button is placed at the top of the screen, simple so it doesn’t dominate.
