Client: Martinborough Brewery
Project: Web design
Following the success of Martinborough’s newly launched craft beer brewery and their delicious Black Nectar we got on with designing a website to showcase their brand and sell beer.
We wanted the site to be stylish, beautiful and contemporary, with the right balance of ease to take in the information, and a bespoke, hand crafted sophistication. We wanted a scrollable website that works seamlessly on mobile devices.
Being a new brand, we wanted to make the logo the hero, placed large in the centre of the navigation, reflecting the packaging design, with the ribbon coming off the central circular shape. Behind this is a sexy hero image, using close up photography of beer to capture the senses, help the user imagine the taste and feeling of drinking a delicious cold beer. These images swap out on different pages. We created punchy intro text that sits on the image and gives the user a taste of the brand.
Then underneath in the next black block is the star of the website, the beer. We wanted to ensure it was easy and clear for the user to buy beer, either going through the main nav or on the home page. We’ve used elements from the packaging design like ribbons to highlight information. As the site is launching with just one beer, we needed to create a site that looked stunning now, but has the ability to grow as the range does.
The next information is where to go drink a beer. We’ve continued with the textured imagery, adding a wooden paneling to reflect the stylish bars the beer is sold in and contrast with the other blocks. We then wanted to feature Martinborough as the brewery is leveraging off it’s reputation for fabulous wines, plus it beautifully breaks up the next about us copy with a lovely image, which a quote sits on perfectly.
We’re thrilled with how the whole site looks, Sam at thinkbox did an amazing job of developing our vision. Now, go buy beer!
