Wairapapa Winegrowers Assocation exists to represent and promote local wine growers. The Association didn’t have any branding, so approached us to develop one. The target market is the wine industry, which typically is quite a traditional and conservative group. We wanted to create something modern, while capturing the sophistication of wine, along with a feeling of established, solid. We’ve introduced a shovel to capture the idea of pioneering, working the land. This is placed within a stylised wine barrel. We’ve added two W’s representing Wairarapa and Winegrowers. They are beautifully separated by the shovel, which acts as a dividing line between the two. We feel that this creates an emblem, modern feel, while building on a sense of traditional.
The font we’ve selected for this logo is a contemporary font that has quite a unique presence. The way the W’s overlap is distinctive to help define our region, encapsulating Wairarapa and it’s wonderful boutique, high quality niche industry, while being modern. This font contrasts beautifully with the strength of the barrel emblem and shovel, creating a nice balance between working the land / pioneering and premium industry.
