FSCL are a not-for-profit external dispute resolution scheme who resolves complaints against financial service providers. We began working with FSCL on 2015, each year showcasing the company in a fresh and creative way while staying true to the brand.
We proposed creating a theme for the annual report to tell this story in a way that engages the audience and ties the content together. 2014 / 2015’s theme was ‘Hearing both sides of the story’. Initially it’s about two different sides to a story, but then they come together, through FSCL, to achieve a mutually satisfactory resolution. Visually we used a strong diagonal lines, connecting two different parts. Case studies showed two different people, a consumer and a financial services provider, one in duotone, representing two sides, but ultimately coming together as they achieved resolutions. We designed the full A4 report and supporting Dl, concertina folded summary report.
Making better connections was the theme for 2015 / 2016, which was achieved visually through the idea of connecting the dots. We used dot patterns and overlapping circles to reinforce the connections FSCL make to help achieve solutions.
The 2016 / 2017 Annual Report continued the FSCl conference theme of ‘Seeing the wood for the trees’.
We created icons and patterns that expressed the key messages of fair, independent and expert, as well as ones that convey seeing the wood for the trees. We wanted to create intrigue and conversation starters. Building on the theme by visually showing that you can understand the situation clearly, even when you are involved. The left side of the page reveals part of an image through the number, with the right hand side of the page fully revealing the image. This reinforces the idea that FSCL can see the details of the image through the text as well as the big picture.
